In college, I took photography classes, learning about composition, the technical aspects of photography, and developing my own photos in the college darkroom.  I continued to enjoy taking photographs, although, for a number of years, these were mostly of important family events, quiet moments at home, and family travel. 

 After leaving my academic career, I took on a variety of art projects, including curating a New Artists Show at Gallery 71 in NYC and being lead author and editor of “Lynn Shaler….” (include a link to the book?) I worked closely with the artist and wrote several of the book’s sections, organized the images for the section, “Across the Decades,” and included a complete catalogues raisonne of her etchings from 1972-2017.  At this time, I also began to establish myself as a serious photographer.  Wherever I am, whatever I am doing, I take in everything around me, always looking for what moves me or piques my interest.

 In my photographic work, I use both my “real” camera and my iPhone.  Whether with an iPhone or a camera , I love translating aspects of the seen world into pictures. I hope that viewers these images might see things a little differently, might appreciate what attracted my attention, and why I took a photo at that particular moment in time..
